You can usually stay in the UK for up to 6 months. You might be able to apply to stay for longer in certain circumstances, for example to get medical treatment.

5. Can I keep my passport while my UK visa application is being processed?

Yes, you can choose to keep your passport while your visa application is being assessed. After submitting your application and enrolling your biometrics, your passport will be returned to you. You will only need to submit your passport once a decision has been made on your visa. Please note: This service is not available for applicants using the Super Priority Visa (SPV) service. If you've already submitted your application and wish to use this service, you can purchase it by visiting the UK Visa Application Centre where you submitted your application.
